England
Universal screening of all infants at 5 days of age is offered for phenylketonuria (PKU), congenital hypothyroidism (CHT), sickle cell disease (SCD), cystic fibrosis (CF) and medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD).

Northern Ireland
Universal screening of all infants at 5 days of age is offered for phenylketonuria, congenital hypothyroidism, cystic fibrosis and medium chain acyl co-A dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD). Screening for homocystinuria and tyrosinaemia is also offered. Screening for sickle cell is planned to be introduced in 2012.
